How do I customize the URL of an event?

Okay I searched the forum a bit without finding much, apologies if this was already solved.

How do I customise the URL of a new event?

The permalinks in the wordpress settings do not work, I try to use /%year%/%postname%/ but whenever a new event is added the URL is always /event/%postname%/

I would like the URL to be automatically /%year%/%postname%/ (or even better /%category%/%year%/%postname%/ ) without the need to manually edit each event.
