refine search problems

I have a few problems with this page. Firstly, the categories are confusing, and need to be organized into PARENT / SUB categories. How to do this?
Next, the refine distance Slider doesn't work.... or to be more exact, does not slide.
Lastly, how do i add in custom fields to be refined by? For example I have a custom field called "wifi" and i want to show only sites that offer this feature i should be able to click a checkbox and the filter would apply... it seems to me this is a very important feature that i don't seem to be able to achieve with appthemes.
