Vantage - Better event filtering

Hello there,

I am looking to have the event page show events listed by "upcoming date". This would mean two things:

1) The default view for the menu would filter by event date, not post date. (Filtering events by post date instead of event date is usually bad practice IMO)
2) Past events would not show up. (So if a visitor were to see the event list today, any events with post date before March 20th, 2014 would be omitted from the view)

Essentially I am looking to have events filtered by "Event Date", by default, and to omit past events. So output would be something like:

1. March 21st, 2014 - Cocktails
2. March 23rd, 2014 - Sky Diving
3. April 24th, 2014 - Bungie Jumping

I am wondering if there is a quick fix you can recommend?
