Vantage child theme not working as per tutorial

Hi,

I am new to the Vantage theme, but not Wordpress. I can not get the vantage theme to recognize and use the child theme CSS... driving me crazy!

I want to make some changes to the CSS, but would prefer to use a child or custom CSS. I've followed the suggested tutorial... https://docs.appthemes.com/tutorials...arted-styling/

Does Vantage use some type of caching, if so where is it buried?

It will use the changes for a single instance if I reload the link style sheets until I click on a link or navigate to another page.
If I install another theme I am able to get a child theme to work which should eliminate the possibility that there is some type of caching my host may have been doing.

What I've done...

I have cleared my browser cookies, cache and history, so it's not the browser.
Tried it on another browser and computer, same problem.
If I view the style sheets in Firefox, it shows me the sheets being used, but not the child, only the parent.
I've reinstalled the theme.

Any suggestions?
