    How to change the css background of certain boxes on the site.

    How to change the css background of certain boxes on the site. Attached you will see a green area to the right of the login and I want to change this background colour. I have used firebug but only find .cf:before, .cf:after which does not work in my child themes css.

    Also on the dashboard for the user when they are logged in there is a purple box and I would like to change the css background of this also. I assume they all work in the same way so it would be nice to know how to edit these from a css point of view as the usual firebug techniques do not do the trick here. I know how to edit the content of these boxes of course through the widgets area.

    Any help would be much appreciated.
