Hero unit (like bootstrap a hero) wanted on front page (only front page)

Hi there, I'm looking to add some basic html on the front page, either:

A. in search box or
B. Above the search box

I'm looking for something like a bootstrap hero unit (which I can do) but don't know where to place it.

Also, I only want this to appear on the front page ie. unless user has done a search or filtered job type (am guessing a php if statement?)

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
