Jobroller updates deployment

Hello guys,

Probably like a lot amongst you, I always try my modifications locally whether it is updating a new wordpress , jobroller or plugin version or cutomizing some features. I was wondering if you guys are using some kind of deployment tool to then push the changes directly to your live environment?

If yes which one ? If no, what are the good practices you use to avoid any update to mess with your production environment.
