add listing to more than one category

We have a directory that is divided by doctor specialties and as such one office might have more than one specialty. So they have one listing but it can appear in multiple listings. Also on the listing detail page is shows the other categories/specialties that the office offers.

Is this possible with vantage?

Also can the search at the top can we have it so it will allow for to just search a particular category (drop down list) or does it just search the entire directory only?

Yes you can allow posting in multiple categories, as well as add surcharges for those extra categories if you wish. You can find a related category widget in the admin dashboard http://demos.appthemes.com/vantage/wp-admin/widgets.php but nothing specific for the business, this would require customization on your part.

The default search bar/functionality is as shown on the demo site, so any change to this would also require customization. Our themes are not encrypted, so you are free to make modifications if you wish. Thanks.

I am not that good at coding - would the customization for the search bar complicated?

This is ultimately relative to your level of coding knowledge. To clarify, AppThemes does not officially support customizations, so we wouldn't be able to offer help for making the change, but you could seek community based support.
