Can I add a Buy Now button?

    Hi,

I'm new to ClassiPress, but I'm very impressed by the rich features offered by ClassiPress. I'm building something that is a combination of classified ads and market place:

The user can either contact the classified ad owner, or click "buy now", which I'll process the paypal payment, taking a small cut, and pass to the "ad owner".

Is there anyway for me to do this in ClassiPress? I was thinking about using Custom field, but I want to see if anyone has done it before successfully.

    thanks,
    Andrew

I'm sure it would be pretty simply to pass the "price" variable into a preset paypal buy now button code. Also probably want to push in the page URL or title or ID or something so you know exactly which listing. I'm thinking URL so you can just click on it in your email :D

I'm not sure you will get everything you want with a custom field, but let me know if you get that to work. Great business idea, hope your ready for all the customer support and legal consulting between parties with disputes. This is why everyone hates PayPal... for settling disputes without just causes or investigation. Well that and the freezing of money and accounts, and not being FDIC insured... wait I don't want to continue that list as its a long one.

Hi, you could try to add a "buy now" button with the quickshop plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/quick-shop/

Thanks for the replies. I'm impressed by how helpful folks are in this community. :-)

Yes, I'm a little bit concerned about the support & customer service issues I have to deal if I go with a marketplace model. Another model is for me to get paid for every lead (i.e. every customer inquiry) I get from the classified. Basically, instead of charging a fixed fee or percentage per listing, I'm trying to go with the pay for performance route -- i.e. advertiser won't pay me anything unless they get something in return.

My question: is it possible to get paid per lead by using Classipress? What would be the "easiest" customization to do this? I'm curious if anyone has done something like this.

    thanks,
    Andrew

Sorry I haven't built anything like this yet, and since its beyond the normal community needs, I probably won't get to it for quite some time.

It will however come into play when I start my next project in a few months where I attempt to "convert" Classipress into a shopping cart model. I hate all the shopping cart models out there for wordpress. They are either too complex or too buggy. I haven't gotten ANY good looking shopping cart model to work in wordpress yet. Thus I'll be considering Shoppipress or something along those lines assuming David agrees to work with me.

    Hi, Seth,

I totally agree that there isn't a robust shopping cart plug in for Wordpress. I looked at WP-Ecommerce, which is quite buggy in my opinion. Have you looked at MarketTheme.com? It looks the most promising one although it has own its shares of limitations.

Ubercart for Drupal is a great open source shopping cart option. However, I prefer to work with Wordpress given its flexibility and user friendliness.

So, I definitely echo your sentiment. The market and Wordpress community still need a robust shopping cart. Look forward to see your shopping cart. If you need any input in term of requirements, I'd love to help provide my 2 cents.

    cheers,
    Andrew

Has anyone resolved this issue yet?

Surely someone's had some success with an e-commerce option with the classipress theme?

Has anyone tried the WP Marketplace plugin to see if it will work with Classipress? The only issue I see is having two front-end management interfaces for the customers to post there products. Do you think they will work together?

My reply from the other thread you posted in relating to this:
