Thread: ClassiPress Multi-region

Its always cool to see update status page.. but unfortunately it does not answer my question. When and in which version multi-region will be introduced?

Version 3.1 is set to include "advanced search" with radius functionality according to previous announcements. There has been little in terms of details regarding this so far but I am desperately wanting to find out more.

Version 3.1 is tentatively slated for a Nov-Dec release according to the releases page and it is currently showing 90% completion (up from 88% last week). It would be nice to get some feedback from the actual development folks on this.

What exactly are you referring to when you say "multi-region"? Are you talking about setting up ClassiPress on a multi site network based on regions, or the fact that an advanced regional search feature is coming?

Multi-region or mostly known as multi-city feature is one in which one site can hold same / different basic ads categories independently of each city. Users can have different set of classifieds for each city/country. I have sent you one PM for some well known multicity scripts.

Ok thanks for clarifying. As far as I'm aware there are no specific features planned for this kind of setup in terms of added functionality in the ClassiPress admin, although I am aware of other customers who have mentioned wanting to achieve the same thing. This would currently involve customization on your part, and your best source of information on how to do this would probably come from the WordPress support forums, with posts such as this discussing something similar I believe. If any other members of the community are currently running this kind of setup, hopefully they too can share information on how to go about this.

How about installing wordpress as multisite and creating a separate blog for each region?
This way you could configure classipress for each region separately.
You could then crosslinking the sites by building a navigation using the plugin "page links to"

There are so many issues, single sing on, aggregated data from all region on main page, base configuration migration to all regions, individual settings for each region, may plugins cannot aggregate data from different regions and so on....... Native support can do a lot esp. when there are now custom posts.
