Does Classipress work on a Windows Web Server 2008

I am asking this question for time and time again I have purchased "wordpress" templates only to be frustarted for they never had been debugged/tested using the Windows Web Server 2008 Apache url re-write module.

This theme is something I would definitely be interested in using however, I have no amibtions to spend the hours debugging as I've stated, I've doen some many times in the past.

I guess the bottom-line would be, if I purchased the theme and it would not function correctly on the Web Server 2008 configuration, is there going to be a huge argument in getting a refund?

    Thanks...

I think it's fair to say that refunds shouldn't be given so easily due to the nature of the product you're buying. You can't even buy games and other software from the shops and expect a refund these day (at least not in NZ), because let's face it, it's way too easy to take a copy and just say you're not using it..

Obviously your issue is something you will want to clarify before you purchase so you won't have to argue for a refund ;)

I will have to find out the answer and let you know because I am personally unsure of this. I will post back asap. Thanks.

ClassiPress has been tested on Windows XP and Vista both using apache but not on 2008. I don't foresee you having any issues but I can't make any promises. On the other hand, you said you've had problems with other wordpress templates you've purchased which makes me think you might have some problems.

Just out of curiousity, why do you want to host on WWS 2008? Hosting nowadays on windows is not very common (nor recommended) and I've heard lots of other people having problems (like you mentioned with other WordPress templates).

Would it make more sense for you to switch to linux or something else hosted so you don't need to worry about compatibility issues? Then your other purchased wordpress templates will work. Just an idea.

Windows Servers offer nearly a 15 to 1 better security, I have not heard of any problems with using Windows Servers with any products with the exception of certain open source products, and in fact I have considered and toyed with the use of Moveable Type many times in the past.

I guess the question is a simple one, if this product is purchased and will not operate properly on a Windows Web Server 2008 (whihc microsoft has gone the extra mile and have created an "Apache Re-Write" module that will allow the emulation of same, if it does not operate, will the purchase price be refunded?

    Thank you,

I usually don't do this but I'm just as curious as you are to see if it's works on WWS 2008. So if you purchase CP and it does not work on Windows Server 2008 then I will give you a refund.

Do you have a beta license or another method for which a trial can be performed? It would save us both the hassle of reversing funds in the event the product needs to "worked" up... I have become (not by choice) rather familiar with "work-a-rounds" regarding wordpress, and Windows Web Server and as stated, Microsoft felt compelled enough to create a "module" speciifcally design for WordPress (something the maker of same would at least offer a thanks to Microsoft, IMHO) - the rewrite module was only designed to assist in the use of the MU product for which I utulize... the stand-a-lone product never seemed to be a problem...

Not at this time. The easiest way is to just purchase the $59 single-use license and give it a whirl. I'm good on my word regarding the refund if things don't work out as we discussed.

I'll probably give it a whirl tomorrow... I am extremely busy today and I am both hoping and praying that this template will simply slide in as an "additional" blog on my MU install...

Of course if I can get installed and working I would always be more than willing to take on those that need assistance in the future

Hmmm...in that case it's a little more tricky trying to get CP working on MU and requires a few mods to get the image uploads working properly. With Windows Server 2008 and MU, I'm pretty certain you'll spend a bunch of time just trying to get things working correctly which might not be worth the hassle.

I don't like to deter people from buying CP but I'd rather be up front and honest. If you are using a plain WP install then I'd be more optimistic.

I surrender... it's 2:30 am and you can check as to when I purchased this theme, and no go... I hacked around and got most of it working however, I'm not getting email notifications (although when I register a pseudo user, I do get the registration notification) I can't understand how the customer is to be notified their ad has been published.

I set user levels up to "Author" nothing, I had to get a lot down on the css to match the site, I actually thought it was working... if you have a fast fix for the email issues, I geuss I can work through the rest... the email functions from the sidebar are not working either, been using several accounts even accounts on the same server, I will probably hace to move to a cms platform such as asp or something to get this work...

    Thanks,

    Robert
