Hi

If Classipress is updated to become a responsive theme in the future, does that mean that 1. Child themes will also be responsive?, and 2. We'll be able to update our Classipress sites without losing listings or data?

Child themes inherit the functionality of the parent theme, so essentially yes, the responsive changes to ClassiPress should take effect in the child theme. However, in saying this, like any change to the parent theme, the child theme still needs to be checked and updated accordingly. Version updates don't impact the actual site data as it is the theme files which are replaced. You should always complete a full backup before any upgrade takes place. Thanks.
