A mash up of classipress and jobroller!

Hi guys, I'm looking to setup a job classified website.

I want many of the features of classipress but also some of the newer features of jobroller.

Is it possible to intergrate some of the features of job roller into it?

    These being...

The sign up process (currently the sign up process on classipress asks only for a username and password) I want it to be more slick like the one on jobsroller..

Also I'm looking to have the search function slightly different, I want the search box to ask the user to enter a post code or location and display the jobs/ads in that relevance not only that but also enter the post code THEN select a catagory aswell.. and click go and it will display the results based on there post code and what catagory they selected.

Has this been done? is it possible?

I can code php and dont mind getting stuck in but just want to know the limitations.

Also this site is set to be pretty big.

Can this handle itself as a full scale web application?

were talking 1000s of users.... is there a limit?

also one thing I'm keen to add from jobsroller is the apply section with the ability to attach a cv

can this function/code be ripped out and inserted into classipress?

I love the geo location of classipress - another reason I want to use that as the base frame work.

Look forward to hearing your replies.

If you know php well then you can definitely integrate some features of Jobroller to Classipress.

A classipress user has already implemented the post/zip code search function and so you could do just that given your coding knowledge.

The themes are based on wordpress and wordpress has been used by big companies such as CNN (http://wordpress.org/) and so it can definitely handle that volume of traffic/users. It is a just a question of how your server can handle that kind of traffic.

So I'm guessing I'd have to purchase both themes....

Are the functions/loops commented and easy to understand? (When editing others code its often the structure or there coding style that holds you back)

From what i understand they are template pages with calls/loops to various functions?

Should it be the case of lifting the function into the classipress functions and inserting the loop?

Do partners of the product recieve a discount? I run a design studio we're partners/developers for interspire the shopping cart company... I'd be interested in applying for the partnership

    our website is www.7eveninteractive.com

Anyways it seems like classipress is the way forward and ripping out a few bits from jobsroller.. sounds pretty easy.. can users sell "plugins" back to the community? As in if we adapted the themes abilities can we then share them with everyone else?

Yes the codes are properly commented on both themes and so you can modify them efficiently.

To become a certified partner you can check this link http://appthemes.com/partners/ . On the bottom part there is a link to the form where you can submit your application.

There is also a theme services section of the forum where you can offer your services or plugins to the community.

Yes, I too am interested in bringing the two functions together. It would be nice if there was a primary theme in place and then added functionality that can merge he functions into a cohesive whole. I think that this will make it easier to support over the longer term. It is a dubious proposition to hack at code since this may make it difficult in the future to move to new versions (of the theme or Wordpress). But seeing as there are separate visions at the moment for each theme difficult decisions will have to be made.

I agree with the above, but how easy this would be I dont know.

That's also an important point if I do make various edits will I still be able to upgrade?
