a showcase category for the pre-sale section would be great for all concerned, no?

Have you seen the Showcased websites on the homepage? http://appthemes.com/showcase/

i have and i should have been more clear - it would be great if pre-sale forum visitors had access to the "existing customer" showcase & feedback section because 1) it appears that many of the themes in this section are under development by cp owners which would be very informative in terms of getting a feel for what's involved in the customization process 2) if a cp owner posted/developed a particularly attractive theme it would be great to discuss the process with him/her or perhaps offer payment for a similar job and 3) there seems to be quite a bit of quality discussion going on in that section which many pre-sale may very well benefit from.... but it looks like i will get access soon enough given i will probably purchase the cp script (and job script) today! after looking closely at noah's classifieds, premiumpress classifieds and templatic's offering, classipress strikes me as the most solid option by a considerable margin! any two-fer deals (cp & job) running today?

I guess the thing for us to consider as well, is that having that section of the forums open to everyone means we'll end up with non-legitimate ClassiPress users taking advantage of the forums to seek support again. This is one of the many reasons why it became members only in the first place.. But as you say, if you purchase a licence, you'll certainly be able to access the forums and discuss customizations with the people who have featured their sites anyway. Also, some of these people have offered their services for mods in our ClassiPress theme services thread too..

Hey Pepsi, what about a read-only situation? Then they can check out what kind of stuff is on there but can only really contribute or ask for specific help if they have the license?

I don't know if I would be keen on this either personally, because as soon as you open up one forum (even read only)...there will always be other people finding reasons as to why we should do this for other sections of the forums.

There may also be customers who don't mind sharing their URL to the community in the showcase forums, but don't necessarily want to share outside of that..

I think at the end of the day, if someone visits the showcase on the homepage, this should give them an idea of what you can do with ClassiPress in a much easier way than trawling through the forums and looking at individual threads to get URLs. If it's enough for them to go ahead and buy it, then they'll be able to access the forums and seek support from the community or from individuals with regards to customizing their theme. That's just my opinion anyway ;)
