10 images per ad!

I have a real strange effect here. The site has quite a few ads. on now and I decided to check on how much space the photos were taking up on the server which had been uploaded by the poster.

I was expecting the main image they had uploaded from their camera, probably around to to 5 megs and then three other images at 50x50 one at 200x200 and one at 400x400 this is how I have got the media setting set. The embedded max size has nothing in the width box and 600 in the height box.

I actually have 10 images per ad! yes 10! they are 37x50 50x50 75x75 75x100 100x100 112x150 150x200 250x250 300x400 and the main large 2 meg file which is about 4000x3000 !

I wish people would resize their own images but lets face it most people havent got a clue.

Has anyone else had this problem of generating so many images!

Secondly I was told that CP generates three images from the main uploaded file. I tried deleting the main uploaded photo and found that the image in the featured scroller disappeared?

Any thoughts
