Drop-Down Sub Menu Options Disappear

Hello,
When I placed the mouse over a submenu item in the top main navigation on the home page, the submenu disappears once my mouse reaches the "featured" section. I've seen this happen in other themes as well. It seems that when 2 links "collide" with the mouse, the submenu disappears. Is there any fix for this?
