Edit Item Form Problem

This problem occurs if we create some drop down custom fields with predefined multiple values and make those fields optional not required and user don't select any value from those drop down fields while listing item so thn when he/she go to edit item page instead of loading no value or a select option in those drop down fields the script loads the very first value which was defined in the custom field so if he/she didn't notice it and update the ad those custom fields get data inserted to them automatically which is taken from the very first defined value of those drop down custom fields without even user choose it.
