This Field is Required doesn't Trigger for Drop Down Menus

If you miss out a field when filling in the form on the Post an Ad page the 'This Field is Required' gets triggered and the browser jumps to the relevant point on the page.
With drop-down fields although the message 'This Field is Required' gets triggered the page does not jump to the relevant point, and keeps the user looking at/clicking a dead 'Continue' button.

I've tried without my child theme on and the problem persists. wp_debug has not helped find the issue either.

Any suggestions why this might be happening?
