Pepsi - this one is for you: Support from Appthemes is nil?
So here we go, yet another unsupported script, how disappointing! I posted elsewhere on this thread that I want advice with changing length of time for different categories, as I can't make it function this way with packages. Pretty frigging important function of a classifieds script, I would suggest! Something that should not be left to the 'community'. So far this is what I have found out about the so-called support that the script vendors provide:
-> Awful installation documentation (don't believe me? count the 'thumbs downs'!)
-> No support, and they make sure they let you know this once one comes on these fora, for instance, see last sticky on this thread - Pepsi states: "We do not provide individual support to people who send PM's, as the forums are a way for other customers to find the answers to their questions and PM communication does not allow this to happen"
-> Although there are some wonderful individuals on these threads providing advice and support, one can see stuff-all support provided by the script-makers themselves. From what I can see they largely provide appeasing messages - in other words, trying to deflect to the community the responsibility to provide real support and not provide real or specific help or solutions in most cases.
-> I found the script to be pretty okay in many respects, but sadly some elemental functions are missing - like print and pdf on listing pages. Also, the help that comes with it is just downright useless, for instance, a good script comes with a dictionary of terms/functions which are used in main php files and the css sheet, because users are not yet capable to read the coders' minds in retrospect, believe it or not!
On the front page of this website the following statement can be found: "I appreciate AppThemes’ follow up and after sales service. It’s a pity that some other theme providers don’t have the same level of service." — Robbert
What misleading balderdash! In view of the points I made above, how misleading is this? I bought the script because it has promised so much, yet I am still struggling to customise it so that it does some elementary stuff.
Argh! More money down the drain, now I have to resume my hunt for a decent script ... but I am pretty well piddled off right now...what a disappointment this has turned out to be!
PS - please note that if you take this off, I will post it on external forums
