Placing comma in price

My aim is to make this £10250.00 look like this £10,250.00

I followed the code in theme-actions.php as shown in this thread http://forums.appthemes.com/insert-c...r-price-23198/

but when I do that, the comma IS inserted but the currency symbol is missing, and so looks like this 10,250.00
also after inserting this code, the prices in the homepage slider still show as the old £10250.00
I am using Xtreme Carousel for my slider so maybe some changes need to done there too, I dont know?
