search ignoring accentuated characters?

I've got my CP installation almost ready, and I've come across a small issue.
My site is in portuguese, and we have lots of accentuated characters. When I search for any word using such characters, It "ignores" what I type and sends me to the initial page with all results. The actual url, does contain the search term I entered.
Example: I search for 'reparações' which means repairs and there is at least 1 ad that has that term.
The resulting page has this url:
http://boas-oportunidades.com/?s=rep...0&sa=Pesquisar but what gets displayes isn't one ad, but the complete list.
If however, I edit the url and replace the accentuated char with their "normal" equivalent (reparações -> reparacoes) I do get to the proper ad.
Can anyone help me figure this out? Is it Classipress or Wordpress that's mangling my words?
