Setting a Home page

I have copied my index.php file and named it as Home. I renamed the index file "index1.php". I have created a page, based on this Home template, called Home. I went to Menus and inserted this Home page in my menu. Some questions:

1. There is still the original Home page button in the navigation bar, then a Categories button, and then my new Home page and other pages I have created. I want my new Home page to be the first page listed in the nav bar, and I want to get rid of the old Home page (which I renamed index1) but it is still there.

2. The new Home page doesn't have the User sidebar welcome widget, nor another widget that I created for the Front/Main page in the widget settings.

It's not that I want to get rid of the old Home page, it's just that I want to have several subdomains and therefore I think I need a different Home page for each, as each site is the same but for a different area, so will have different text information on each Home page.
