Blog featured images showing up twice

when I upgraded to 1.7 i now have all my featured images showing up twice on the blog page. see image.
wordpress 3.5.1 jobroller 1.7 simplex childs theme.
disable theme and just use jobroller 1.7 still have same issue.
was advised by simplex developer that
"I found the issue.
the problem that in jobroller they created a featured thumbnail, but in the same time there is a function to call the thumbnail of the post.
You can face the same issue in the single post page"
please advise
