Jobs expiring wrong..

Can anyone give me a quick run down on how a job expiration is determined?

Client most likely changed the publish dates in the admin, does this not work?

What if you want to extend a few jobs, how do you do that?

At the moment, almost all of our jobs are expiring in 52 days, we want to be able to test that they actually expire, so how can we set one to expire in one day?
