Drop-down issue

I created a cool little drop-down box within masthead.container... more specifically within the advert class div, but the box drops behind the main-navigation.container. I'd like for it to drop down in front, but can't for the life of me get it to do that. I've tried using z-index in a few different places, with no luck. Unfortunately I'm not a css or php whiz... anyone have a solution?
