Error term-counts.php on line 65 Need to turn off TermCounts

My data base is quite large, 42,000 Listings and 37,461 Listing Categories This is sitting on a very large VPS server. I have allocated 256MB memory for processes, the problem I am seeing is:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 262144 bytes) in /home/xxxxx/public_html/wp-content/themes/vantage/framework/includes/term-counts.php on line 65

I believe this is the counting of listings in categories, I think that /framework/includes/term-counts.php needs to be adjusted or some how turned off.

What advice / solution can you offer on this, or is this a bug that only occures when getting into larger installations?

    Many Thanks
