Menu page in dasboard very slow to load and save

I have 2 vantage installs both with child themes. The second install i have added about 80 categories - no other content

all dashboard settings load, changes, saving is very fast ( on a vps hosting )

however the Menu changes and saving are extermly slow..too slow 20 -30 seconds

has anyone come accross this. seems weird

I deactivated ithemes security plugin ( did not do any advanced settings in that plug -in ) still way to slow

any ideas ?
