    Taking a different approach

    going away from the blue and gold, trying something different, adding the logo level with the navigation, will likely redo the logo to make it look better.

    Actually I just hid "header_main_bg" altogether, I haven't decided whether or not to comment it out or remove it altogether, for now I'm just hiding it... what your actually seeing is the logo in a much bigger "header_menu" div just made the logo slightly smaller and floated it to the left, I agree, it looks a lot nicer than what I had going last time.

    EDIT* if you want to know how to adjust the size of the header, its the ".header_main_bg" class just assign a height attribute.

    this is a decent and tidy lay out, i like it, perhaps you may put a bit dark texture background to add up the spice

    I like the logo+navigation next to each other. But also would prefer changing the blue at ad titles and some links to something more elegant (#000?) to match the rest.
