I completely agree with you there!
DirectoryPress is jam packed with a lot of features but the most simple of things requires more than just a basic knowledge of WordPress because you have to fiddle around with codes (and good luck finding which file let alone code to edit). For $79.00, I expected more of a user-friendly theme but got the opposite. Definitely not for the average or novice user and for that reason, I would not recommend it.
Vantage may not have half the features that DirectoryPress has but its simplistic design makes it very easy to navigate and having the reviews and rating feature built into it, is definitely a much needed bonus that DirectoryPress lacks. Given time, I am sure that Vantage will gradually grow with more features. I would rather wait for that than keep swearing at the brutal framework that DirectoryPress uses
