(multiple Listing Categories) how to prevent selection of "parent"

During the listing registration process, a listing owner has the option of selecting or "adding" multiple categories. This is a huge and much appreciated upgrade, however I would like to prevent them from selecting parent categories.

This primarily has to do with the "featured category" option, since listing owners can take advantage of this while others will only be featured in the sub-sections.

There should also really be a way to make a listing featured only within chosen categories, not all by default.
