Help with using Child Theme

Hi All,

I am following the given instructions on using a child theme, and it appears I am missing one final step.

So far, I have created the required style.css inside the new child theme folder. And when I activate the child theme inside Wordpress, it appears to default to the out-of-the-box installation.

My custom logo reverts back to the Vantage one... the color scheme reverts back to gray (even though I use RED)... All the side, header and footer widgets are gone.

Do I need to re-customize those things once my child theme is activated, or am I missing another step in the process?
