How to create an advanced search with results in a google map.

Is it possible to add the following to the search feature in vantage?

1. In the search results show the distance from the search. For example if you are searching for 90210, and there are listings near that zip code, show how far away it is.

2. Create an advanced search where you can also search on some custom fields?

3. Show the results of the search on a google map. Like http://www.geotheme.com?

4. Only show the top level categories in the search result filter.

I found the following requests in the ideas exchange, and I know people have requested them, but it doesn't look like these features will be added anytime soon. If they are, can you let me know when?

I'm a developer by trade, so I feel I can make the changes required, but I'm new to wordpress, so if someone can point me in the right direction I can go from there. If all goes well, I can post my results here so that others can do the same. Ideally it would be nice to have these as native features but if it isn't an option I guess I can hack it in for now, until the day comes when those features are available.
