Nope, this is a totally different matter.
I see what you mean. Unless you have categories that are many layers deep and/or with long names, I can see how this would be desirable.
Perhaps someone will be able to help you accomplish this at the Mods & Tutorials forum. But if this is something that you feel should be built in, the best way to submit a feature request is by posting and voting at the Ideas Exchange. You'll get my vote.
