Payment type outside the default payment settings

Hi,

If ever someone writes in to request (or if i would like to offer such an option) for using the feature function outside the setting permutations permissible on the frontend, but manageable from the backend, how do I go about tying that up with the payment gateways? How do I generate such an item for payment purpose, with regards to linking seemlessly with payment gateway, as well as notices on expiration of the manually created feature listing product at backend for the customer?
