Updating to Vantage 1.3

Here is my Nub question. I think I already know the answer but hope not.

If I update Vantage from my current version to 1.3, will I lose the changes I made to the .php files in the editor?

I know that I have made some changes to the code in those files, mostly by the direction of others instructing me on exactly what to do based on my need at the time.

I did not keep notes as to what I changed. I recall most of the changes, but not all. Is there any way to preserve those changes without compromising the functionality of the new version?
