Change Admin settings through childtheme

Hi guys,

I am working on a childtheme now, andeverything is good.
Except one issue that's bothering me alot.

I want to apply some changes in the admin/settings,and as long as I tried to call for files in includes/admin/ , but the changes cannot be seen, so technically, they are not override

I tried to add the include_once include, require_once, .... to my child functions. but always same thing, no changes.

I Just want to know if i want to apply changes ( or add something) to the admin settings,how can I link it to the functions.php of my childtheme and make it override the velues of the parent folder.

I hope anyone can help about this or at least give some clue.

You can add admin options using the action hooks (scroll down to the bottom of the page).

Thank You so much for your reply.
I was thinking about the action hooks as well, but it will need me lot of reading , especially that I am a designer.

While that, is there any shortcut through functions.php of my childtheme to call and override one php file in the parent them ( i need to override ONLY admin-values.php)
for the reason that I created a childtheme with more colors and i need to add them to the settings ( no need to create sub menu, I think )

so i would be soooo thankful if you tell me how to call and override that file ( includes/admin/admin-values.php)

I will try with the hooks but now i am beginner in using them, i am afraid i will take ages to sort it out.
everything is working great except this.

Second thought, the hooks are not that hard, and if i cant get a way to override the settings of the color schemes, i will have to create a submenu page with content ( same as admin-values, i think, and alter it theway i want), right?

but my first shoot from the docs of the hooks you have me, it showed the sub menu, but in the page, showed error :

I added same code in docs , sure this works fine with JR 1.5.5 ?

I still hope there is a shortcut, like to call/overrise by require_once that php file ( admin-values.php), so i wont need to add any sub menu , only to change the current settingsof the color schemes.

Ya, I haven't had a chance to play with the admin hooks until just now. I am getting the same errors.
I'll inquire with the Dev Team and report back here...

Unless, I wish someone can tell if there is another way to override admin settings ( admin-values.php)

I already checked it, and i worked in other cases, my case now is related to the admin settings that I want to overrride by new ones I made in my childtheme.
I tried the admin hooks but it returned to errors, unfortunately.

My idea was even without the hooks to find a way (a trick) to call/overrride ONLY one php file ( includes/admin/admin-values.php)
For the reason that I created new color scheme, and i wanted to add it in the list ( admin/settings), so I dont need to create sub menu.

any idea how to call a php file and override it from functions.php of my childtheme!!

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, the so called "STYLESHEETPATH" fix doesn't quite work in this situation (I already tried).
