    New Forum Features Explained

You may or may not have noticed that there have been some changes made to the forums in the last day or so. We hope these improvements will make things much easier for everyone, and enable us to provide all customers with a better support experience.

First of all, when anyone goes to create a new thread anywhere in the forums, there is now a feature which will search the terms you are including in your thread title to check for existing threads on that topic.. Hopefully this will reduce the number of duplicate topics..specifically those which have been asked and resolved previously.

A rating system for the threads is also available. The forums allow you to rate threads between 1 star (Not Helpful) and 5 stars (Solved My Problem). Once enough votes are cast for a thread (5 or more), stars will appear next to its name in the listings. These show the average vote, and can be an easy way to see which threads are worth reading if you are on a busy forum. On the forum viewing page you can also arrange threads by rating, with either the highest or lowest at the top.

It therefore makes sense to rate threads because it helps all users. To do this, click on the 'rate thread' link at the top of the thread viewing page. Choose the number of stars you feel best represents the quality of the thread. You may or may not be able to change your choice of rating at a later date.

    Prefix Tag Options

These prefix tabs have been added to the forums to make it easier, at a glance, to see whether the threads contain the information you are looking for. You are able to search forums using these specific prefix tabs by going to the "thread display options" located at the bottom of each forum page.

Whenever you create a new thread in any of the forums mentioned, you should look at the options available in the "prefix" dropdown box (located just above your new thread title), and select one that is applicable to your post. If we all make a habit of doing this, the system will work much more effectively..

In the Customization - Mods and Tutorials forum, the following tags are now available:
[MOD NEEDED] - This should be used if you are looking for help with a mod/customization.
[TUTORIAL] - If you have worked out a mod and you'd like to share a how-to on how it was done.

In the ClassiPress Theme Services forum, the following tags are now available:
[SERVICE PROVIDER] - Someone who is offering their services as a coder for hire
    [DESIGN & PROGRAMMING NEEDED]
    [PROGRAMMING NEEDED]
    [DESIGN NEEDED]

In the ClassiPress Plugin Exchange forum, the following tags are now available:
    [PLUGIN TROUBLESHOOTING]
    [PLUGIN RECOMMENDED]
    [PLUGIN NEEDED]

In the Feature Requests forum, the following tags are now available. These ones will be updated by the forum admins/moderators to give you an indication of what status your post is at:
    [FEATURE CONSIDERED]
    [FEATURE ACCEPTED]
    [FEATURE RELEASED]

For the remainder of the forums, which contain official support for the out of the box ClassiPress theme, the forum moderators will update resolved threads as [SOLVED] whilst simultaneously closing the thread. We close threads to avoid micro-threading, which is where new questions can sometimes be tacked on to the end of a discussion about a question which has already been answered.
