Over 400 pages indexed by Google, but...

I am curious to know from different people that know about SEO. I noticed Google already indexed over 400 my pages for vantage. (the site is in maintenance mode)

I want to know if I should Noindex, follow archive and tag pages. I noticed many tag pages are showing up in my search. I am wondering if I should be worried about duplicate content?

Been reading some and what I read is this archive pages can be an dupe content issue. There are so many opinions out there. Some say you should, some some say Google should know how Wordpress works, etc...

I am currently using the Yoast SEO plugin which I think is sweet! Any thoughts?

    Hi scorzaze.
You are right... there are many thoughts on this topic.
Personally, I set tags and archives to no archive. SE's will still follow any links and find all of your content. But that's just me.
Since this is more a request for general advice that Vantage support, I'm moving this thread to the WordPress General Discussions forum for community input.

I have wondered this too. About the time I installed classipress and added the tags to my posts Google started indexing all of the tags as their own "post" so that every post had duplicate content (the tag)... it killed traffic to my website (was averaging 1,200 unique visitors/day and it dropped to 300-400/day). I just realized the problem and using an SEO plugin I figured out how to "no follow" and "no index" all of the tags. Let me know what you find out!

I used the SEO Ultimate plugin to "no index" and "no follow" the extra pages. Our google rankings and traffic dropped right after the Penquin update so I am hoping that this will cure it. Not sure yet how long it will take. If you find anything or have any ideas feel free to talk to me about them... sometimes it takes two heads to figure things out.
