There is another solution. My website is in Cyrillic. I use a plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/cyr3lat/. Converts Cyrillic and Georgian characters in post, page and term slugs to Latin characters. Useful for creating human-readable URLs.
As a result, I get the URL in the Latin transliteration.
