    He took 2 x 1000 pieces and sells you 1720 pieces for 40usd. The rest 280 pieces he can sell 1 piece for 10usd which he will earn 2800usd total.

    By giving you 720 pieces for free he can earn 2800usd from the rest of 280 pieces left. This is way too profitable!!!!
