Hi Ruben
I wasn't actually referring to the mobile aspect as that in my opinion is a whole different issue and one which may be better attacked in a different way completely. However more to do with the market that I am seeing in our web stats which is the tablet. I must point out here that I am saying this from our own findings of just over a couple of weeks of running so they are by no means a typical test bed of results. Plus if this post helps yourself and the wider community get a feel for what has taken place with us and aids the decisions that they make then this will be a good thing.
Over 18% of the hits on our site in the last 14 days have been with the resolution 1024 x 768 and everyone of them from an ipad - a further 8% were diverted to Dudamobile which is awful but better than the alternative. So 26% of the market fell in that slot that designers have tried so desperately to move away from yet these devices have dragged it all back to. Top end resolutions 1600 and above accounted for 14% of the market and the most popular resolution being 1366 x 768
I have run the two main contenders and your theme through a simulator and would judge them as so - Yours by far the best looking most aesthetically pleasing but the user must put a scroll in to see the content where the other two have already provided the user with a reason to stay no scroll required. The user will then want to put the scroll in because there is something to read they have been captured. Yours renders lovely on all widths, but its that crucial 768 bit and the info you can comfortably design into that first viewing area.
I am not writing this to be awkward or to have a rant I am writting from the perspective of a user who does not posse the talents that many show here but stands between those and those who use the systems that we put out there. I see the stats and hear the comments from users and watch what is sticky and what isn't. Your theme was put to the vote with 5 people and 5 said 'no' whatever my views are after that can't count.
I certainly get what you are saying but could you please hit that gap with a theme that makes sure that the user gets to lock into the content quick allowing the user to engage.
Still a big fan of your work
