Thanks for the link guys. Will definitely try these. Although reCaptcha may deter attacks, you still should further secure your WP installation. Once I had my site infiltrated by bots that post hundreds of articles everyday and another time by spammers that post gibberish with links to shady sites.

Here are some links to articles that I have found useful as guides to protect WP from attacks:

Be carefully using those kind of plugins.. I tested crawlprotect and bulletproof security plugin
(both will mess with site functions, and make functions non working)

from experience I have found cache plugins + security plugins to harm more than what good is.

Sucuri SiteCheck is also a nice tool to use. I use it every week to monitor my site's security. Just google "Sucuri Sitecheck."

i would also suggest for eCommerce sites to use CrawlProtect with CrawlTrack
don't forget that <<< no query to work and work before any query >>>
if the site is not a WordPress site you can protect him to check the list directly in their forum

    CrawlProtect use Mysql to work

    -php version 4.3.2 minimum
-graphique library GD2 to be able to see the graphs
    -one MySQL database

    a site protect with CrawlProtect
could be down in a few minutes with some "Zombie Computer"
    and multi threads software
