    Stuck between subcategories and custom field

    I am working on a cars classifieds site.
    I have car makers as categories and models as sub-categories.
    Is there a way to have models listed in refine search bar.
    If I create a custom field for models and put models in that then the problem is how can I link it to the car makers which are categories ?
