can't get plugin working properly

I recently purchase the plugin to go with classipress 3.6.1 running on WordPress 4.9.6

the app works up to the point where it says it sent an email.. no email is sent and if you click resend, it sporatically sends it but when you click on link it takes you to the site, asking you to log in, when you do the screen is white 500 error.

if i wait a little while and refresh screen , i am logged in then..

I would appreciate any thoughts on how to resolve this. I can provide classipress/wordpress log in if needed..
