    www in front of domain - issue

    So discovered an odd issue. When I type in xxx.com/stores/ it takes me to the correct listing of stores, but when I type in www.xxx.com/stores/ it takes me to an error page that the directory is not found and tries to leave me in the xxx.com/wp/ folder.

    What is causing this? Before when I had flat html files, prior to Wordpress, I could type either with or without the www and get to any specific .html file without any issue and the CNAME's are there for www.
