Adding categories to form stopped functioning

Strange thing is happening. I have added lots of car makers and car makes as subcategories.
Now I am editing my "car form" through layouts to add the categories and sub-categories to this form.
90% of the categories have been added. But now suddenly when I tick few categories and subcategories to add them to the form they do not get saved. I have tried 10-12 times. Need urgent help.

Also I notice that under form layouts Cars form shows categories as Cars, Mazda ... pls see the image attached.
