This saved fine, however the stage to add in:
Open your /wp-content/themes/classipress/functions.php and ad the following code at the end of the file:

add_custom_background();
has gone wrong!.. I now have a message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '/' in /home1/colphys/public_html/human-link.co.uk/wp-content/themes/classipress/includes/functions.php on line 2541[/B][/I][/I][/B]
completely lost, stuck, fed up!
Any advice really appreciated!
