Remove the word 'index.php' from the url string

    Hi

I'd like the page name to immediately follow the url for example

    www.haleforsale.com/business or www.haleforsale.com/about-us

I don't want to see the word 'index.php'

I've tried just entering /%postname%/ in the custom box but i get a page error.

    Glad of any help

    N
