Steps to update WP and ClassiPress

Hi

I've read a few threads on the forum and still can't make up my mind or find something specific to help me with updating WP and CP. I've tried updating WP automatically but that doesn't seem to do anything.

CP = 3.1.5
WP = 3.2.1

What are the 'must follow' steps in order to update both. i.e. which sequence of steps etc.

Looking for ward to some detailed responses.
