Updating from Classipress 3.2.1 to the current version.

Hi!

I need some help updating my classipress version 3.2.1 to the current one.

Tried to update through the AppThemes Updater but this led to losing all my adverts and settings.

Good thing I had a backup of the site.

I there so much change between the (hopelessly outdated) version I'm using and the current one?
Why are the adverts not showing after the update?
Would there be a necessity to use a child theme?

Any help is highly appriciated.
